Car history:

This beautiful automobile is Sun Fire Yellow with a black interior. It comes with a working radio, clock, electric antenna, power steering and a working vintage air conditioner that has been updated. Vintage means that it is not factory air but it a unit likely sold shortly after it was delivered and fits neatly into the car. It has been converted so that it no longer uses freon. The headlights, brake lights and head light door closers work fine. As far as I can tell it is mechanically excellent and runs beautifully. Given my experience I would not hesitate to drive it for a long distance, even cross country.

I previously owned an equally excellent 1967 CORVETTE with a stock engine and this is an even better performer. Except for the Hurst shifter, the automobile exterior and interior are completely authentic and the automobile shines perfectly with a well- executed paint job completed in February of 2004. All chrome was taken off prior to the painting. I would rate the overall chrome condition as slightly better than average. Because the car has a GM crate engine, the engine compartment is not authentic but it is very clean. The bottom line is that this is an excellent opportunity to get a beautiful mid-year Corvette at a price considerably lower than one that has a numbers-matching engine. This car will perform better and likely require less mechanical maintenance. But without the original engine it cannot be placed in a serious show.

Restoration activity completed in the last three years includes a rebuilt transmission and new clutch, new paint, a new soft top, a rebuilt steering gear box, a new fuel tank and fuel meter, new bearings, a new emergency brake cable, new emergency brake shoes, a replaced tachometer, a new carburetor, a new air conditioning compressor, a new fuel pump and fuel line, new tires, a new distributor, coil, and ignition, new ignition wires, a new battery and new headers and exhaust. The car has a beautiful after-market teak steering wheel, Hoses and belts have been replaced recently. Receipts for these items and others dated no earlier than December 2002 are available totaling slightly over $17,700. The interior is excellent with what appears to be a relatively new carpet and replacement interior door panels. The seats are in excellent condition. While I do not have repair records on them I believe they have been recovered.

The paint color and interior numbers match but the engine number does not. Instead the car has a $3700 General Motors ZZ4 350 ci 350 hp crate motor with aluminum heads (GM #24502609) with approximately 2,000 miles on it. It also has a Hurst shifter. The engine was installed in November of 2003.

I can only trace the car back to the mid 1990s and have no knowledge of its history prior to then. Someone did some initial restoration work on it and then sold it to the individual who I purchased it from. It does not have a tank sticker or any initial purchase documentation. There are no receipts available prior to those mentioned above. Because the odometer does not work, I cannot authenticate the mileage. I purchased the car about fifteen months ago and have a full statement from the prior owner about his knowledge of it. He owned it for about three years and had most of the restoration work done. I am one person with four cars. When I bought this one I was out of garage space but I was taken with it and I thought it would be easy to find a rental garage for it. I was wrong. In my locality I cannot find one for less than $200 a month. So to maintain its excellent exterior, it needs to get in the hands of someone who can provide protected space for it.

The known faults with the car are a rust spot on the right rear bumper and a similar one on the left front bumper (the one in the rear about the size of a quarter and the one in front smaller than a dime) and a crack in the paint on the drivers side of the hood and also one barely visible on the passengers side. The emergency brake needs adjusting. Presently it does not hold. The back up lights and dash lights do not work and the vent window on the drivers side does not close completely. One electric head light door opens and closes slower than the other. The odometer and trip odometer do not work and while the wipers work fine, the windshield washer does not and some of its parts are missing. The hood needs adjusting as it does not latch perfectly at the rear corner on the drivers side. The spare tire is not the same size as the other tires but, rather, a smaller tire designed to be used only for emergencies. It does have a jack and lug wrench.

The car comes with a nice car cover. It does not have a hard top.

I have attempted to honestly and completely describe the automobile but there could problems that I am not aware of. The Vette is sold as is. But I think you are going too like it!
